Dayco VIN-Scanning App Wins Popular Mechanics 2012 Editor’s Choice Award

State-of-the-art app delivers available auto parts directly to smartphones.

TULSA, Okla. – Dayco Products has been selected as a recipient of the 2012 Editor’s Choice Award from Popular Mechanics magazine, for its state-of-the-art vehicle identification number (VIN)-scanning app.

Popular Mechanics’ team of automotive editors singled out the best new products at the SEMA and AAPEX Shows in Las Vegas on Oct. 30, and Dayco’s app was recognized for its outstanding achievement in new product design and innovation.

The app gives professional technicians and DIYers instant access to a complete list of Dayco parts that match a vehicle’s year, make and model by simply scanning the VIN barcode under the windshield or in the door jamb of the vehicle. After finding the needed part, app-users also have access to part specs, routing instructions and step-by-step installation videos.

With the “Where to Buy” feature, the app gives users the ability to find the closest parts store selling Dayco products, complete with store contact information and directions to the store location via a map search, all through the use of GPS.

“Dayco is honored to be recognized by Popular Mechanics for this award,” said Robert Christy, director of marketing for the North American Aftermarket division of Dayco Products. “We are very proud of this patent-pending development and plan to continue to use technology to provide innovative solutions for Dayco Customers.”

Visit www.daycoapp.com to download the new Dayco app and view a demonstration video. The free app also is available in the Apple App Store, and for Android systems in the Google Play Store.
