Dayco Opens Distribution Center, Creates Jobs In Memphis

The Memphis facility, which will employ nearly 200, will be used to distribute all of Dayco’s products in North America, including belts, tensioners, pulleys, harmonic balancers, hose, hydraulic components and equipment and all related tools.

Dayco - LogoDayco has announced that it has completed a previously-announced investment to improve customer service by opening a new distribution center in Memphis, Tennessee. The 400,000-square-foot facility features state-of-the-art distribution and logistics technology, including a new Tier 1 warehouse management system, which Dayco says will improve shipping times while increasing fill rates.

“Following months of research, Dayco is excited to announce the opening of our new United States distribution center in Memphis, Tennessee. As a major transportation hub centrally located in the United States, Memphis is the best location for our distribution center. The new location gives Dayco the ability to provide a seamless service experience for our North American customers, from manufacturing to delivery,” said John Bohenick, CEO of Dayco. “We would also like to thank Memphis city leaders for the continued support during this transition. Dayco looks forward to a long-term partnership with the city leaders, citizens and businesses of Memphis.”

The Memphis facility, which will employ nearly 200, will be used to distribute all of Dayco’s products in North America, including belts, tensioners, pulleys, harmonic balancers, hose, hydraulic components and equipment and all related tools. The center will also generate $3.6 million in new tax revenue.

“The EDGE Board is very pleased that Dayco has selected Memphis for its national distribution center,” said Reid Dulberger, president and CEO/chief economic development officer for the economic development growth engine for Memphis and Shelby County. “With this decision, Dayco brings its world-class reputation, in addition to new jobs and investment, to Memphis and Shelby County. We look forward to continuing the relationship EDGE forged with Dayco during the site selection process as we launch this new flagship distribution center.”

In June, Dayco announced plans to expand its customer service capabilities, implement new supply chain systems and consolidate its United States distribution locations into one, larger distribution center in the Memphis, Tennessee, area. Dayco anticipates initial product shipments by the third quarter of 2015, with the goal of shipping all products from the Memphis location by the end of the calendar year.
