FLETCHER, N.C. — Continental said today it is moving forward with plans to hire 100 people in the next seven months at its manufacturing facility in Fletcher, N.C. Continental manufactures brake calipers at the facility and has a variety of job openings available including assembly, engineering or supervisory positions.
Last summer Continental announced a $30 million expansion plan at the Fletcher facility. The plan, which is a direct result of additional orders from Continental’s customers, includes adding more than 325 jobs to the area over the next few years.
"When we hire people, we look for them to be with Continental for a long time; the average length of employment is about 10 years," Plant Manager Bobby Nelon said. "I am very pleased that we have the chance to offer such stable employment to the people of the western North Carolina area."
Continental also added a new production line to the manufacturing facility that will build combination calipers, which are a combination of a caliper and a parking brake. Combination calipers reduce the cost of the vehicle and reduce the weight of the vehicle, which improves gas mileage, according to the company.
Applicants can find a list of open positions on Continental’s website at www.careers-continental.com. The jobs are also posted on www.careerbuilder.com or through the local North Carolina Employment Security Commission (ESC) office. Hourly job applicants must first pass pre-employment testing before they are brought in for interviews.
