ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Continental Corp. has expanded its VDO Power Door Lock aftermarket program, offering more service applications for both domestic and import vehicles. The company said this expansion establishes a competitive edge for Continental’s retail partners and service technician customers because it creates sales and service opportunities that in the past were primarily captured by car dealers and salvage yards.
Today, more than 90 percent of the cars and light trucks sold in North America are fitted with power door locks as standard equipment. Many have multiple applications with up to four passenger doors, as well as fuel doors, trunk lids, liftgates/hatches and liftgate glass. As a result, the service and repair market for power door lock systems is steadily increasing, according to Continental.
“With millions of power door lock-equipped vehicles now coming in for service and replacement, our expanded Power Door Lock Actuator program ‘unlocks’ a great deal of potential for our aftermarket customers,” said Steve Landis, product manager. “The line now features 122 SKUs with 12 new part numbers coming soon.”
The VDO Power Door Lock aftermarket program can provide applications for passenger cars, light trucks, and SUVs. Domestic model coverage ranges from model year 1977 to date. European coverage extends on popular vehicles from model year 1983 to date, with exclusive applications on multiple European makes. Asian coverage includes popular Acura, Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Scion and Mitsubishi models from 1992 to date.
VDO Power Door Lock Actuators are made to OE specs for vehicle specific fit, form, and function and are built in ISO-certified facilities to the same specifications and quality standards as the OE components supplied by Continental to automakers worldwide.
