Clarcor Inc., which makes industrial and automotive filters, has said its first-quarter profit rose just over 1 percent, as sales were hampered by shipping delays. Clarcor posted earnings of $16.4 million, for the quarter ended March 3, up from $16.2 million, in the year ago-period.
Revenue dipped to $209.5 million from $213.2 million in the year-ago quarter. Weather-related delays slowed truck and rail traffic, including a snowstorm that causes a manufacturing plant to be closed for several days.
The company still projects it will meet its forecast earnings of $1.67 to $1.77 per share for the fiscal year, compared with the average analyst estimate of $1.74 per share.
Shares of Clarcor rose 60 cents to close at $33.50.
