CAWA Plans 50th Anniversary Celebrations

The California/Nevada Automotive Wholesalers Association (CAWA) is celebrating its 50 year anniversary. Established in 1955 by 26 jobbers throughout California, CAWA continues today as one of the nation’s premiere regional automotive parts trade associations. CAWA has planned celebratory activities that will occur throughout the year in California and Nevada culminating with the annual CAWA meeting during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas.

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA — The California/Nevada Automotive Wholesalers Association (CAWA) is celebrating its 50 year anniversary.

Established in 1955 by 26 jobbers throughout California, CAWA’s first meeting was held on Aug. 6, 1955 in Fresno, Calif., to “discuss matters of pertinence to the jobbing industry” as documented in a letter signed by the presidents of the Automotive Jobbers Businessmen’s Association of Los Angeles and the San Francisco Parts Jobbers Association. At a follow up meeting on September 10, 1955, the association drafted its constitution and by-laws and established its first headquarters offices at the East Bay Automotive Jobbers Association in Oakland, Calif.

CAWA continues today as one of the nation’s premiere regional automotive parts trade associations. The mission of the association is to provide communications, education, legislative and regulatory advocacy and group purchasing of services for its members while promoting the automotive aftermarket industry.

CAWA has planned celebratory activities that will occur throughout the year in California and Nevada culminating with the annual CAWA meeting during Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week in Las Vegas.

Receptions will be held at quarterly board meetings and members will be recognized for their support of the Association throughout the past five decades. A commemorative document that traces the association’s contributions to the automotive aftermarket industry will also be created.

Legislative and gubernatorial resolutions are also being created in both the California and Nevada legislatures and governors offices to recognize the associations longstanding history.
