Car and Driver: Ford To Limit Aluminum To Trucks For Now

An article in Car and Driver indicates that Ford Motor Co. is going to limit aluminum construction to the light-duty truck market, apparently because it doesn’t think it can profit from aluminum-intensive passenger cars.

“You don’t get those same benefits to a consumer on a car side,” executive vice president Joe Hinrichs told Car and Driver. “Truck buyers will pay for more capability. Car buyers will pay for better fuel economy, but there’s other ways to get fuel economy in a car. I don’t think we’ll see a dramatic increase in all-aluminum cars.”
