Car Care Council Women’s Board Announces 2006 Scholarship Recipients

The Car Care Council Women’s Board has announced that Julia Johnson of San Francisco, CA, is the recipient of the 2006 Women’s Board $2,000 post-secondary scholarship. Johnson will be recognized during the Women’s Board reception on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, NV.

BETHESDA, MD — The Car Care Council Women’s Board has announced that Julia Johnson of San Francisco, CA, is the recipient of the 2006 Women’s Board $2,000 post-secondary scholarship. Johnson will be recognized during the Women’s Board reception on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, NV.

In addition to Johnson, the Women’s Board is awarding a $1,000 post-secondary scholarship to Dawn Lagrone of Hodges, SC.

Scholarship applications were available to women who have completed at least one year in an ASE-certified, post-secondary automobile technology program and plan on entering the automotive field upon graduation.

The comprehensive Women’s Board program also offers scholarships to high school students who plan on pursuing a career in the automotive field upon graduation. This year, the Women’s Board is presenting a $1,000 scholarship to Josie St. Germain of Oakdale, MN, and $500 scholarships to Amber Borkan of Glen Gardner, NJ, and Christina Coles of Springville, UT.

“Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we were able to expand the program to provide more scholarships than ever before,” said Sherrie Graham, scholarship committee chair. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to help five talented women pursue their dreams of completing their education to obtain positions in the automotive industry.”

The 2006 Women’s Board scholarship sponsors are dedicated to recruiting and retaining talented women in the automotive aftermarket industry. Current sponsors include: Babcox Publications, Beck/Arnley, Four Seasons, Jiffy Lube International, Inc., Meineke Car Care Centers, Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide, Pam’s Motor City Automotive and SKF.
