CURNO, Italy — Brembo SpA, a manufacturer of high-performance braking systems, and Sabelt SpA, a top name in racing seat belts and child safety products, have been selected by Fiat to take part in the re-launching of the Abarth brand.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Brembo and Sabelt signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture company, Brembo Performance SpA, which would focus on developing components and special accessories for motor vehicles and motorcycles.

In this new partnership with Fiat, Brembo and Sabelt will co-design the product concept jointly with Fiat, manufacture the items at their own production sites and handle customer logistics up until delivery of the product to authorized dealers and garages.

For Abarth’s kit and accessory program, the new partners will develop a complete portfolio of products connected with different versions, interiors and exteriors, going beyond the two companies’ standard range of components. Sabelt and Abarth have also signed a license agreement for the development, production, distribution and marketing of racing and sportswear.

The new joint venture is expected to begin operations by the end of this year.
