TOKYO — Robert Bosch Corp. is considering buying parts of its bankrupt US rival Delphi. The announcement was made at the Tokyo Motor Show by Bosch chairman Bernd Bohr.
“Of course, we are screening Delphi as well as all acquisition opportunities which we think would be there or we would like to develop,” said Bohr. “Whether this now provides a special opportunity or not, it is too early to say.”
Delphi, once owned by General Motors, sought protection from creditors this month in the biggest bankruptcy filing in U.S. automotive history. It has said it will sell or close substantial parts of its U.S. businesses.
Foreign subsidiaries, including an operation in Warwickshire, U.K. employing about 450 people, were not included in the move. (C) 2005 Birmingham Post. via ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved
