AUBURN HILLS, MI — BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems in Seneca, SC, has been named Manufacturer of the Year by the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. The company also received this award in 2002.
The award recognizes four outstanding manufacturing enterprises in categories based on the size of operations in South Carolina (large, medium, small, and small with headquarters outside South Carolina). BorgWarner, which employs 300 in Seneca, was the winner in the fourth category. Only one other company, Lang-Mekra N.A., has received the award twice in the past nine years.
“BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems in Seneca has long distinguished itself as a competitive, innovative manufacturing operation, both within our global organization and in the South Carolina community,” said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner chairman and CEO. “We are very proud of this ‘repeat’ award and the continuing leadership that it recognizes.”
BorgWarner’s Seneca facility is the center of expertise for the company’s front-wheel/all-wheel drive production, including InterActive Torque Management systems that were introduced on the Acura MDX and followed on the Honda Pilot and Ridgeline. Additional applications include systems for Hyundai/Kia, and for other programs that are planned with automakers in North America and Europe.
