AUBURN HILLS, MI — BorgWarner’s Drivetrain Group has opened a new 34,000-square-foot European Drivetrain Competence Center in Ketsch, Germany.
As the Drivetrain Group’s European headquarters and technical center, it will accommodate about 120 Transmission Systems and TorqTransfer Systems employees including program management teams; advanced manufacturing and product engineering groups; and sales and marketing operations. The Drivetrain Group has established a strong presence in Europe with seven manufacturing plants in Germany, France, Monaco and the United Kingdom. BorgWarner operates technical centers and manufacturing plants in 24 locations in Europe.
"By improving communication and leveraging our considerable synergies, the European Drivetrain Competence Center will spark innovation and collaboration, driving advances in transmission and all-wheel drive technologies," said Dr. Bernd Matthes, president and general manager, BorgWarner Transmission Systems.
Cindy Niekamp, president and general manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems, added, "As we build our all-wheel drive and synchronizer expertise in Europe, this center allows us to become faster, more responsive and more effective than ever before. These are key attributes demanded by our customers."
BorgWarner executives hosted local government officials and other guests at the opening ceremony on Jan. 31.
