AUSTIN, TEXAS — Beck/Arnley, a leading supplier of replacement components for import vehicles, has teamed up with Activant Solutions Inc. to revamp the entire Beck/Arnley eCatalog data set. Beck/Arnley is an operating unit of Affinia Group Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich.
The revamp, completed in December, will create faster, more accurate delivery of parts updates to the thousands of automotive counters that utilize Activant’s electronic catalog products, according to the company. The project included replacement of approximately 600,000 data records for more than 23,000 Beck/Arnley product SKUs within Activant’s industry-leading PartExpert, LaserCat, ShopCat, ePartExpert and Catalyst eCatalogs.
The revamp now also provides detailed images of Beck/Arnley products and other valuable next-generation content featured in the leading-edge Activant Catalyst electronic catalog. The enhanced data and graphical content of Catalyst, combined with Affinia Group’s advanced in-house data management capabilities, enable Beck/Arnley to significantly accelerate delivery of valuable product information to the more than 60,000 counter positions using one of Activant’s electronic catalogs.
“This was a huge project that will pay dividends across the entire supply chain,” said Jeff Alexander, director of commerce data management for Affinia Group’s Aftermarket Data Management Services business unit. “Activant’s data services team played a major role in helping us achieve our goal of delivering highly accurate, timely parts data for the growing Beck/Arnley product portfolio.
“Collaboration is the key word in this case,” added Alexander. “The Activant team worked hand in hand with our staff to get the job done very efficiently and effectively. I was amazed by Activant’s openness to addressing our unique needs throughout this process.”
Activant’s role in this Beck/Arnley project represents a renewed corporate emphasis on teaming with aftermarket manufacturers to address a broad range of data and business management challenges, according to Steve Bieszczat, vice president of information services.
