At Axalta Coating Systems, a global manufacturer of liquid and powder coatings, giving back to the communities in which the employees work and live is a guiding principle, the company says. The business thrives, in part, due to employees who focus on innovation that is fueled by science, technology, engineering and mathematics and the ability to prepare tomorrow’s leaders, according to the company.

Axalta believes in investing in the next generation that will drive continued advancement. As a sponsor of First State Robotics in Delaware, the company has announced that Georgia Mackay, a Newark High School senior, is the recipient of Axalta’s First State Robotics Scholarship. Mackay was selected for her scholastic achievement, dedication and excellent contributions to the Miracles of Engineering (MOE) robotics team. She received the scholarship last weekend at the 2016 Diamond State FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Championship. Georgia plans to attend the University of Delaware this fall to study engineering.

“On behalf of First State Robotics, I would like to offer congratulations to Georgia,” said Peggy Vavalla, First State Robotics board president. “It is exciting to see a young woman like her strive to become a leader in the engineering fields. In addition, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Axalta for their continued involvement. Their support helps us to bring programs like FTC to the Delaware community.”

“Axalta is excited to support such a talented group of young men and women,” said Mike Carr, Axalta’s president, North America. “These bright minds are the engineers and scientists of tomorrow. First State Robotics helps its participants unleash their potential and enables them to take advantage of life’s opportunities.”
