The Automotive Sales Council (ASC) held its 63rd annual Spring membership meeting, Sunday evening May 1 through noon on Wednesday, May 4.
With approximately 120 people in attendance, the meeting began with the traditional networking reception on Sunday evening. On Monday morning, 2022 ASC President Paul Johnson opened the meeting to a range of presenters on subjects of current interest, such as supply chain management in today’s market, and retention in this tight labor market.
Over the next three days, the ASC said membership heard presentations by industry icons, including Larry Pavey of Automotive Parts Services Group, Steve Tucker of Automotive Parts Associates and Bill Hanvey of the Auto Care Association, as well as a presentation by Craig Barns and Ken Bush from Advance Auto Parts that included a Q&A component.
During the meeting, various corporate sponsors had the opportunity to make short presentations to the membership about their firms.
The corporate sponsors providing support to the ASC for 2022 are:
-Auto Care Association
-Babcox Media
-Bill Murray and Associates
-EPICOR
-Spuhler Associates
With the increasing activity of the Council, the membership voted to add an officer position to the board, splitting the Secretary/Treasurer post into two separate jobs: Louis Fresta III, ASC member since 2001, remaining Treasurer, while Mark Thorpe ASC, member since 2017, becoming the new Secretary.
The next in-person meeting of the Automotive Sales Council will be September 19, 2022, near the Chicago O’Hara airport.
