WASHINGTON, D.C. Aftermarket professionals from around the country traveled to Washington, D.C. last week for AAIA’s 2012 Aftermarket Legislative Summit. The event kicked off on Wednesday, March 14, with a legislative briefing session featuring discussions on important aftermarket issues, as well as a lively political panel with Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary under George W. Bush, and Terry McAuliffe, former Democratic National Committee chairman.
Following the briefing session, attendees made their way to Capitol Hill for an evening reception in the Rayburn House Building, where they were joined by Martin Truex Jr., NASCAR Cup Series Driver for Michael Waltrip Racing, courtesy of NAPA Auto Parts. Truex signed autographs and posed for photos with guests.
Attendees spent Thursday, March 15 on Capitol Hill attending meetings with their elected officials. In total, the aftermarket delegation reached out to 81 congressional offices in 24 states. Congressional members and their staffs were very receptive to the issues attendees presented on behalf of the aftermarket, such as Right to Repair and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, according to AAIA.
