APRA Creates its First Transatlantic Division

APRA announced this week it has created its first transatlantic division. The association decided during a recent board meeting of the APRA Electronics & Mechatronics Division to extend its activities to include Europe.

CHANTILLY, VA – APRA announced this week it has created its first transatlantic division. The association decided during a recent board meeting of the APRA Electronics & Mechatronics Division to extend its activities to include Europe.

Fernand Weiland, chairman of the division, announced this decision at the Amsterdam APRA Remanufacturing Forum. During the ReMaTec2007 exhibition in Amsterdam on June 18, the APRA Electronics & Mechatronics Division, together with the University of Bayreuth, organized a European Remanufacturing Forum which focused on mechatronics (i.e. electrical steering, ABS-braking, combined starter-generator and engine management).

“We have taken our first step toward extending the reach of APRA’s forward-looking Electronics & Mechatronics Division by hosting an educational forum based on mechatronics to a European audience. We are confident by expanding our activities to include Europe the division will continue to grow in strength and importance,” said APRA’s President William Gager.

To underpin this new European branch, the board nominated Rolf Steinhilper from University Bayreuth (Germany) as a new permanent member of the board. Rolf Steinhilper’s Chair for Remanufacturing has great experience in the field of mechatronics and will be a valuable addition to the division. Future Electronics & Mechatronics Division meetings will be held in Las Vegas in October, 2007 and in Europe, early 2008.
