DETROIT, MI — The board of directors for AmeriChip International, parent company of AmeriChip Tool and Abrasives, has signed a letter of intent to purchase the Nasco brand of products, a line of abrasive products that has been sold in North America for a number of years.
The company said it expects the acquisition to help generate sales by offering a wider array of products for current and future customers. AmeriChip said the brand could potentially generate sales of $1 million in the first year.
In addition to the acquisition, AmeriChip Tool and Abrasives has named Richard Zyla to the position of vice president of engineering. Zyla brings 24 years of manufacturing experience to the position, in addition to eight years as an abrasives engineer. Zyla’s principal role will be as a tooling and abrasives application engineer. He will also direct and design new products, promotions and design all special formulations for new applications in the abrasives area. In addition, he will be assisting AmeriChip International with the implementation of the Laser Assisted Chip Control process throughout the automotive industry.
