Air Lift Co. Marks 65th Anniversary With Company Expansion Plans

As Air Lift Co. marks its 65th year of business this year, the air suspension provider has announced the addition of a 40,000-square-foot addition to be built at the company's Lansing, Mich., headquarters.

LANSING, Mich. – As Air Lift Co. marks its 65th year of business this year, the air suspension provider has announced the addition of a 40,000-square-foot addition to be built at the company’s Lansing, Mich., headquarters. The company says this new space represents a significant expansion of Air Lift’s manufacturing capacity. The company also recently added engineering support in response to the growing demand for Air Lift air suspension products.

Air Lift says these positive developments underline the company’s 65 years of successful product development and efforts to increase consumer awareness and demand for air suspension systems. Today’s achievements have their roots in the original vision of the company’s founders, who set out in 1949 to create a suspension solution to provide safe towing and improved ride quality.

One of Air Lift’s success strategies is a dedicated focus on the company’s core business segments. Air Lift provides a range of load assist products for trucks, RVs and SUVs, and the company has seen significant growth in this category. The market for the company’s automotive performance suspensions has also expanded, with notable sales increases in European markets including the U.K.

Along with sales revenue increases, employment has also grown from the original staff of six in 1949 to a team of 120 people today. Three members of the current Air Lift board, James Parsons, Jack Scripsema and Brian Todey, represent the third generation of the family-owned company.

"In our 65th year of business, the entrepreneurial spirit of Air Lift’s founders can be seen in the continuing pursuit of providing suspension products that help create better lives," said Kevin Mehigh, president, Air Lift.

The company has received numerous product patents and awards for their innovative consumer and performance products. There are five patents pending on Air Lift controller technology, and the company was recently recognized as a top five supplier for Stag-Parkway, one of North America’s largest RV aftermarket parts and accessories distributors.

Mehigh noted, "We take pride in our ability to produce the industry’s most comprehensive line of products. Our goal is to continue to honor the vision of the past and respond to the challenges of today and the future."
