TMD Friction, a global brake friction solution provider, has completed its acquisition by AEQUITA, a Munich-based private industrial group. The acquisition, which has received all necessary regulatory clearances and approvals and was finalized in December 2023 allows TMD Friction to remain an independent entity with its own brand. Robert Roiger, partner at AEQUITA, has joined the management team as co-CEO. David Baines, CEO of TMD Friction, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition.
“I am very excited to announce that three months after AEQUITA agreed to acquire TMD, that we can today confirm the successful completion of this transaction. TMD could have no better strategic partner than AEQUITA. This collaboration will empower Team TMD to accelerate our recovery plan. Putting our already highly motivated and engaged global team together with the industry-leading know-how and operational expertise of the team at AEQUITA will be a dynamic and powerful combination,” said Baines. He added that the collaboration aims to boost TMD’s transformation and strengthen its position as a key supplier of brake friction solutions to OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and the international independent aftermarket.”
“Having worked closely with the team over the last couple of months, we are very excited to finally become the new owner of TMD,” Roiger said. “Together with the company’s skilled and experienced employees, we will continue to provide customers with the highest quality and service levels while materializing on the significant growth potentials ahead.”
