Activant Reports Increase in New System Installations

The Activant Eagle for the Aftermarket business management solution, the latest Activant computer platform for replacement parts distributors and jobbers, has experienced a nearly 10-fold increase in store installations since late 2006, according to the company. The company expects the new system to exceed 200 installations this year.

LIVERMORE, CA – The Activant Eagle for the Aftermarket business management solution, the latest Activant computer platform for replacement parts distributors and jobbers, has experienced a nearly 10-fold increase in store installations since late 2006, according to the company. The company expects the new system to exceed 200 installations this year.

The Microsoft Windows-based solution is designed to help increase parts stores’ sales, margins and customer loyalty. Among the distributors that have purchased the system are: Parts Depot, Hahn Automotive, Pacific Supply, Parts Warehouse, Inc., Piston Ring Service Supply, Automotive Parts Headquarters, Vast-Auto Distribution, Tri-States Automotive, Distributors Warehouse Inc. and EntrepÔt de MontrÉal. Single-location parts wholesalers are also implementing the system, according to Activant.

“Distributors and jobbers understand that the status-quo isn’t a viable growth strategy in today’s aftermarket. That’s why many of the largest and most successful store operators are proactively exploring new ways to serve their customers, and why many smaller businesses are investing in technologies to protect their competitive advantage and re-energize their operations,” said Tom Aliotti, vice president and general manager of the Activant automotive business.

Based on proven Activant Eagle technology already in use by more than 7,000 hardware and other non-automotive businesses, Activant Eagle for the Aftermarket provides store employees with fast, easy access to advanced eCatalog, business management and point-of-sale tools that help increase sales, profitability and customer satisfaction. The system is designed to empower counter people to more quickly and easily sell the correct products in every transaction.

Despite a tough commercial tire market in 2023 due to overstock and the effects of a rubber-banding supply chain, some tire manufacturers are expressing a cautious optimism for stabilization and gradual recovery through the rest of 2024 and into 2025.

"The economy is not showing signs that it’s going to slow down, but I don’t think the situation’s going to improve dramatically by the end of this year. It’s more likely next year," said Pierluigi Cumo, Vice President of B2B products, at Michelin North America. "We can see the light because the beginning of 2023 was very bad. I think now we’ve found the bottom, and I don’t think we’re going to get much further from the bottom in 2024."
