Activant LaserCat 3 eCatalog Interface Now Available for Vision, J-CON and Prism Systems

Highly intuitive user interface designed to help parts professionals save time, increase sales and reduce returns.

LIVERMORE, Calif. – The Activant LaserCat 3 electronic catalog interface is now available for use with the Activant Vision, J-CON and Activant Prism business management solutions.

Developed as a result of a multi-year catalog usability study, the highly intuitive Windows-based user interface helps counter professionals dramatically reduce the time needed to find, recommend and sell the right parts for millions of automotive and light/medium-duty truck applications, according to Activant. The new interface was introduced in late 2008 for the Activant Eagle business management system.

“The popularity of this powerful new solution among Activant Eagle users convinced us to extend it to the Activant Vision, J-CON and Prism platforms,” said Tom Aliotti, senior vice president of the Activant automotive business group. “The LaserCat 3 interface is a market-changing tool for business owners and parts professionals who have been looking for a way to speed up the selling process while enhancing customer service."

The LaserCat 3 interface consolidates critical part and application information within a single screen and enables users to launch lookups with multiple inputs – year/make/model, vehicle identification number or part description. Its advanced logic dramatically reduces the number of “clicks” required for most lookups and allows the counterperson to reduce or even eliminate the need to take notes when serving a customer, the company said.

The LaserCat 3 interface also provides access to a variety of value-added databases not available through other eCatalogs. These include:

    •  Activant BuyerAssist buyer’s guide, which identifies which vehicles use specific parts

    •  Activant LaborExpert flat-rate labor guide, providing detailed labor requirements for each job

    •  Activant ServicePlus database of OE-recommended maintenance schedules and service procedures

    •  Activant TireExpert OE and aftermarket tire guide featuring fitment listings, inflation recommendations, lug information and more

Other leading features and benefits of the Activant LaserCat 3 eCatalog interface are:

    •  Drop-down displays of multiple product categories by application to speed multi-part sales and promote cross-selling

    •  Single-click access to product photos, diagrams, installation instructions and other data available through the optional Activant Cover-to-Cover module

    •  Parts sorting capability by part type and/or manufacturer

    •  Fast access to previous lookups to save time and improve customer satisfaction

    •  Increased sales potential through integrated Activant PartExpert catalog and InterChange and All Lines modules.
