AUSTIN, TX — Activant Solutions Inc. has announced that its Cover-to-Cover graphical eCatalog module is now in use at more than 500 automotive aftermarket business locations.
Activant Cover-to-Cover, introduced in early 2005, is an electronic catalog provided for automotive distributors, parts professionals and installers with detailed product images, installation instructions, warranty descriptions and technical service bulletins (TSB) linked to specific part numbers. Available for use with the Activant PartExpert, LaserCat, ShopCat, and Web-based ePartExpert eCatalogs, Cover-to-Cover currently includes more than 1 million product image links, with thousands of additional images, technical specifications, TSBs, OE reference numbers and other useful information being added each month.
“Cover-to-Cover makes my counter staff better, faster and more accurate,” said Bill Guinard, vice president of Olympus Imported Auto Parts, Alexandria, Va. “Service is everything in our business. This new tool allows us to prove to customers that we not only have the best counter professionals, but we also equip them with the best tools.”
The module’s popularity has been particularly strong among mid-size and small businesses, including many single-store locations, according to Steve Bieszczat, Activant’s vice president of information services.
“Many of these businesses have traditionally competed on the basis of their skill level at the counter and their ability to provide personalized service to professional accounts,” Bieszczat said. “Cover-to-Cover strengthens this value proposition by making their people more effective in virtually every selling situation.”
Cover-to-Cover is designed to emulate the comprehensive nature of a printed master catalog. The module’s “Part SnapShot” feature enables the user to instantly access enhanced product information, such as detailed photos/illustrations, specifications and technical service bulletins, with every parts lookup.
