RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. Tom Muccio, the former senior customer strategy officer for Procter & Gamble (P&G), will present an interactive discussion, "Turning Insights Into Action: How P&G and Walmart Partnered for Success," on Thursday, March 30, during the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association’s annual Vision Conference (VisCon). VisCon will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, Rosemont, Ill.
“Tom was key in facilitating the P&G/Walmart case study featured in the ‘Aftermarket Outlook 2020’ report released at AASA VisCon 2011,” said Steve Handschuh, president and COO of AASA. “At AASA VisCon 2012, we will follow up our landmark report with an exciting, audience participation session, moderated by Evan Hirsh of Booz & Co. This keynote AASA VisCon presentation will be one of the highlights of our conference and a reunion of the team responsible for the ‘Aftermarket Outlook 2020’ case study.”
Muccio drove the creation of the multifunctional customer team concept at Procter & Gamble (P&G). From the inception of P&G’s global relationship with Walmart in 1987 until his retirement, he was the team leader. During that time, P&G grew its sales to Walmart from $350 million to $7.8 billion, 38 percent faster than Walmart’s revenue growth over that time period. Muccio’s P&G and Walmart experiences were featured in a recent widely cited Harvard Business Review case study.
“Our members will benefit from Tom’s insights, not only from his P&G career, but also from his experiences assisting other businesses in optimizing their relationship strategies with major retailers,” Handschuh added. “Members will draw valuable tips from Tom’s experiences with other clients, including Crossmark, a retail services provider; Saatchi and Saatchi X, a customer marketing firm; Coke, Kraft, Intuit in CPG, DSM, an ingredient supplier to Coke, Pepsi, Bayer, Pfizer and others; as well as to a number of P&G suppliers like BASF, Dow and more."
AASA says the 2012 AASA VisCon event will include an outstanding line-up of speakers and presentations. The full agenda is available online here.
