BETHESDA , MD The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) is now taking nominations for 2008 standing committees. The available committees include Audit Committee, Category Management, Education, Government Affairs, Leadership Development Network, Market Research, Marketing and Member Relations, Show and Technology Standards and Solutions. These committees primarily meet two times a year in conjunction with AAIA Leadership Days in the spring and fall, throughout the U.S. , to provide direction and to develop plans for the association. Some committees may meet an additional time and/or schedule various conference calls/webinars. The 2008 Spring Leadership Days is scheduled for April 9-11 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs , FL. The 2008 Fall Leadership Days is scheduled for Sept. 3-5 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio , TX .
There are a limited number of openings for each committee. Criteria, goals and missions for each committee are listed below. If your job responsibility coincides with any of the committees mentioned and you are interested in becoming more involved in AAIA, please complete the attached form and include your relevant experience, qualifications and bio, and e-mail to [email protected]. All requests must be submitted no later than Oct. 19.
Candidates will be reviewed and evaluated against the number of available seats, the demographics of business function, expertise and job positions that are to be filled. Recommendations are formed by the committee chair, vice chair and staff liaison and presented to AAIA’s Chairman of the Board for approval sometime following AAPEX. Audit Committee The committee’s primary function is to assist the AAIA Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with respect to (1) the audit of the organization’s books and records and (2) the system of internal controls that the organization has established.
Category Management Committee The committee works to develop category hierarchies, best practices, education and implementation plans for Category Management in an effort to improve business operations and customer satisfaction.
Education Committee The committee strives to enhance the business potential and competitive advantage of aftermarket professionals through its support of automotive aftermarket educational events and programs.
Government Affairs Committee The committee works with association staff to develop and implement AAIA’s legislative and regulatory policies that are aimed at both protecting and enhancing the business of the vehicle aftermarket in the United States and abroad.
Leadership Development Network (LDN) Committee The committee works to provide networking and mentoring opportunities for individuals who are new to the aftermarket or want to advance their careers by developing relationships with other aftermarket professionals. Through its events and Web site, LDN provides its members with valuable career-building connections and the tools necessary to grow in the automotive aftermarket.
Market Research Committee The committee, together with the association’s professional research staff, works to identify major shifts in aftermarket industry trends and assesses the impact on current and future industry business practices.
Marketing and Member Relations Committee The committee provides overall counsel, vision and direction to the association through its Marketing and Member Relations professional staff in the planning and implementation of programs and activities that market and promote p rod ucts, programs and services, and in communicating news and information both internally to members and externally on behalf of members and the aftermarket industry; and provides strategic direction for member retention and recruitment.
Show Committee The committee responsibilities include the Automotive Aftermarket P rod ucts Expo (AAPEX), Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) and participation in AutoMechanika, PAACE and Equip’Auto. In addition, the committee oversees specific AAIA events at AAPEX.
Technology Standards and Solutions Committee The committee consists of member volunteers from a variety of aftermarket industry segments who meet to develop computer standards and best business practices in the areas of supply chain technology and data exchange.
