Bosch Awards $25K to Local Schools to Further Science Education

The grants were presented to Illinois Community Unit School District 200 (CUSD) as part of the Bosch Energy, Science and Technology (BEST) Program.

BROADVIEW, Ill. – Robert Bosch LLC recently awarded $25,000 in grants to Illinois Community Unit School District 200 (CUSD) as part of its Bosch Energy, Science and Technology (BEST) Program. David Coolidge, executive vice president, Americas, Robert Bosch LLC, (center) presented the award to Board of Education President Rosemary Swanson and Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris at a recent school board meeting.

BEST was launched in 2011, the year of the company’s 125th anniversary, and was designed to enhance continued learning in the science disciplines at the K-12 levels in communities where Bosch associates live and work. CUSD 200 serves the west suburban Chicago areas of Wheaton, Warrenville and portions of Carol Stream, Winfield and West Chicago. The Automotive Aftermarket division of Bosch is also located in the Chicago area.

David Coolidge, executive vice president, Americas, Robert Bosch LLC, presented the award at the school district’s recent board meeting. It was accepted by Board of Education President Rosemary Swanson and Superintendent Dr. Brian Harris.

The grant supports CUSD 200’s mission to educate and challenge all students to reach their highest level of learning and personal development. It will be used primarily to support and enrich Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives at the high school level. Funds also will cover some software and equipment expenses for "Project Lead The Way" in the middle school.

Based on the convictions of its company founder, Bosch strongly believes in the importance of investing in the future of its local communities and has a strong tradition of social responsibility and public spirit. Similar grants were awarded to local schools near other Bosch locations in Michigan, South Carolina and California.
