Dorman Launches Updated Website Featuring Advanced Part Search Powered by Google

The company says it is now faster and easier for automotive professionals and do-it-yourselfers to find the Dorman parts and resources needed to get the job done, instead of going to the dealer.

COLMAR, Pa. — Dorman Products has just launched an updated website, featuring a more comprehensive, user-friendly part search experience powered by Google. The company says it is now faster and easier for automotive professionals and do-it-yourselfers to find the Dorman parts and resources needed to get the job done, instead of going to the dealer. For the full experience, visit www.DormanProducts.com.

Users of the website have the option of looking up specific parts by entering vehicle year, make, model and engine type. From there, users will be able to select a part type or enter a keyword. For added convenience, the enhanced search capability also features an auto-complete function that suggests part names as characters are typed into the search box and spelling suggestions, where the most relevant spelling of a keyword is provided.

With the variety of product lines offered by Dorman, a challenge for website users has been knowing the many different names used for the same part. Now, search functionality for synonyms and aliases has been added, allowing users to search for parts using names they’re most commonly referred to in the industry. For example, entering "stabilizer bar" also will pull results for "sway bar."

In addition, if a part is selected without having already selected the year, make, model or engine, the option to "Check Your Fit!" will appear, without having to start the search over. A pop-up message lets users know if the part does or does not fit the specified vehicle.

Results can be filtered by year, make, model, engine, part type and brand. For example, see all Dorman parts available for a 2009 Ford F-150, then from there, see what brake parts are available for the same model. Results are displayed 25 per page in standard format, but can also be viewed with 50 or 100 results per page.

Finally, once a part is found, all marketing materials are readily available on the same page as the product information. Site users can quickly access related instruction sheets, installation videos, audio clips, sell sheets and much more without additional searching, Dorman says.
