Johnson Controls Receives 2010 Supplier of the Year Award from General Motors Corp.

This is the third consecutive Supplier of the Year award Johnson Controls Power Solutions has received from General Motors.

MILWAUKEE — Johnson Controls Power Solutions, which makes lead-acid starter batteries, advanced lead-acid batteries for Start-Stop vehicles and Lithium-ion batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles, received the 2010 Supplier of the Year Award from General Motors Corp. (GM). The company was recognized at the automaker’s annual awards presentation held recently at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit.

"2010 was a good year for General Motors," said Bob Socia, vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "This would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the supply base. That is why the Supplier of the Year Award Ceremony is always special. It gives General Motors the opportunity to recognize suppliers that have risen above and beyond expectations. This is truly a world-class list of suppliers."

The Supplier of the Year program started in 1992. Each year, a cross-functional team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives determines the winners. This is the third consecutive Supplier of the Year award Johnson Controls Power Solutions has received from General Motors.

"We are pleased to receive this award from General Motors, which acknowledges our continued focus on exceeding our customers’ quality and performance standards," said Alex Molinaroli, president of Johnson Controls Power Solutions, who accepted the award on behalf of the business. "We look forward to continuing to work with GM as the automotive battery takes on an increasingly important role in the vehicle."
