University of the Aftermarket to Present ‘Aftermarket 101’ Program for Employees New to the Industry

University of the Aftermarket and AAIA partner on new educational program.

BETHESDA, Md. – The University of the Aftermarket will present an “Aftermarket 101” program at Federal-Mogul headquarters in Southfield, Mich., April 18-19. The program is open to any new employee in the automotive aftermarket, and will provide a better understanding of the aftermarket, its structure and big-picture trends.

Aftermarket 101 was specifically created for new hires in the motor vehicle aftermarket. During the day-and-a-half program, participants will be exposed to key information about the aftermarket, its history, scope, market channels, customers and trends. Presenters are subject matter experts from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), Federal-Mogul, Northwood University, the University of the Aftermarket, Federated Member Motown Warehouse and General Parts Inc.

Specific subjects will include:
   •    Industry basics, channels and terminology        
   •    History of the aftermarket    
   •    The aftermarket and the North American economy
   •    Current state of the aftermarket    
   •    The global aftermarket        
   •    Distribution: structure and trends        
   •    Technician panel: What’s important to customers?    
   •    Macro trends: The big picture            
   •    Field trip to visit a WD

Participants can save $50 if they register by April 1. The early-bird rate is $550 for both days ($600 after April 1), and includes lunch and all materials. Participants will receive 1.2 credits toward completion of their Automotive Aftermarket Professional (AAP) or Master Automotive Aftermarket Professional (MAAP) designations.
