Federal-Mogul President and CEO Jose Maria Alapont; David Zapata, managing director of the aftermarket business in Spain; and Angel Viveros, the mayor of Coslada – where the DC is located – welcomed important aftermarket distributors from throughout Spain for the facility grand opening ceremony yesterday.

The company says this new, state-of-the-art warehouse, covering a surface area of more than 8,000 square meters, will serve the entire Spanish aftermarket. It will enable the company to strengthen its position in Spain, a market growing in strategic importance in Europe. The Spanish market currently accounts for nearly 10 percent of the company’s European aftermarket business.

Federal-Mogul’s full product range, including global leading brands such as Abex, AE, ANCO, Beral, Carter, Champion, FP Diesel, Fel-Pro, Ferodo, Glyco, Goetze, MOOG, National, Necto, Nural, Payen, Precision, Sealed Power, Speed-Pro and Wagner will be offered through the facility; Wagner brake pads and MOOG chassis components are both new to the Spanish aftermarket.

The new center retains a stock of 35,000 products and handles approximately 110,000 parts monthly with capacity to grow to more than 200,000 parts monthly, using the latest state-of-the-art supply chain management, inventory control and order fulfillment technology, ensuring rapid and accurate order delivery to customers, Federal-Mogul says.

The new Federal-Mogul Aftermarket Coslada logistic center will be initially staffed by 63 employees.

"Growing in the Spanish market is a priority for Federal-Mogul," said Alapont. "We plan to strengthen our position with Federal-Mogul’s global leading brands, world-class customer service and effective program management for the extensive Spanish car parc. Spain has the sixth largest vehicle fleet in Europe and the car parc keeps growing, hence the opportunities in the replacement parts market are significantly increasing. Through this state-of-the-art center we are reaffirming our commitment to sustainable global profitable growth by exceeding customer expectations."

Zapata explained, "Operational efficiency at the center will be enhanced by bringing together the talent of the commercial teams representing the full range of Federal-Mogul products in Spain. Customer service will be channeled through a single team in Madrid dedicated to specialized, agile service and best-in-class delivery times, supported by modern and efficient facilities."
