Continental Announces Availability of VDO REDI-Sensor Multi-Application TPMS Sensors

According to Continental, VDO REDI-Sensor multi-application TPMS sensors provide a game-changing advancement that will help save significant time and money for tire dealers, auto service facilities and parts professionals, alike. Designed to cut through the confusion about TPMS and simplify the service operation, this sensor can be used on numerous vehicle makes and models, works with all major scan tools and does not require special programming or additional training, the company says.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Citing unprecedented positive response to its new VDO REDI-Sensor multi-application TPMS sensors, Continental has announced the sensors are now available for shipping and in stock for sale and installation by distributors, tire dealers, service providers, repair shops and retailers.

"We are extremely pleased by the exceptional response to our innovative TPMS sensors,” said Howard Laster, director of product management and new business development for Continental Commercial Vehicles & Aftermarket. “We have been receiving requests and pre-orders from customers as early as our successful product demonstration and preview this past August. We are delighted that we are now able to satisfy our customers’ needs and fill the pipeline with REDI-Sensor."

Unlike other multi-application sensors that are supplied as blank units and need to be programmed with a specialized tool and software, VDO REDI-Sensor is ready to use “right out of the box,” according to Continental. REDI-Sensor also saves time during the vehicle relearn process, when used with scan tools that incorporate a hunt mode. It uses an intelligent design to wake faster and deliver positive results sooner. This prevents the relearn process from timing out and eliminates the need to redo the procedure.

Continental notes that the REDI-Sensor works with all major TPMS scan tools, including tools from ATEQ, Bartec, OTC and K-Tool (T.I.P.S.) REDI-Sensor requires no additional purchases, TPMS training or investments.

The company adds that service shops only need to keep a small supply of REDI-Sensor multi-applications sensors on hand to be ready to service practically any vehicle that comes in.

The VDO REDI-Sensor was specifically developed for the aftermarket by Continental, one of the industry’s leading manufacturers of Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems for original equipment. Continental’s OE engineering team developed VDO REDI-Sensor to help reduce the complexity and proliferation of parts in the aftermarket and meet the growing need for standardization in TPMS service. VDO REDI-Sensor is a true multi-application TPMS sensor backed by OEM technology, quality and expertise. It is validated to deliver OE fit, function and reliability.

"REDI-Sensor represents the first time Continental has used its engineering resources to develop a totally new product concept, specifically designed to meet the aftermarket’s needs,” said Laster. “We feel that it will go a long way in helping to simplify the complex and challenging requirements of tire pressure monitoring system service and make it easier for parts stores to stock and sell TPMS replacements parts."

Made in ISO-certified facilities to the same quality standards as the parts supplied to automakers worldwide, REDI-Sensor features a waterproof design and technically superior valve sealing. The valve core, stem and hex nut are treated against corrosion. The pivoting valve stem makes installation easier and accommodates a wide range of wheel rim profiles. The multitude of new applications covered by REDI-Sensor will be added to the already broad and deep coverage of the VDO OE TPMS replacement sensor offering.

The VDO TPMS Replacement Parts Program includes everything needed for proper service, from complete replacement sensor assemblies to service parts including valve cores, valve nuts, seals, seal washers, valve caps, valve stems, screws and stainless steel wheel bands for valveless sensors.
