Activant Creates New Non-Application, Universal Parts eCatalog

Suppliers can provide data for free product listings in the new Activant ItemExpert eCat.

LIVERMORE, Calif. – Activant Solutions is inviting suppliers of non-application and universal parts and related items to include their product data at no charge in the new Activant ItemExpert eCatalog.

According to Activant, suppliers of non-application and universal parts can reach potentially thousands of additional retail points of sale simply by providing their latest product information – including part description, pricing, image and more – to Activant’s data acquisition team.

The new ItemExpert eCat is designed to help retail professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada quickly and easily look up and sell any of thousands of products not covered by Activant’s PartExpert eCatalog of application-specific parts.

Activant eCatalogs and other data products are in place at nearly 30,000 traditional aftermarket points of sale as well as hundreds of electronic stores and thousands of vehicle repair businesses.

“We are opening the door to the aftermarket distribution channel for product suppliers that have never before been able to provide their data directly to automotive parts resellers,” said Paul Salsgiver, executive vice president, Activant. “If your company has been looking for the most efficient way to deliver product information to parts professionals and installers, we have the solution – and supplier access is absolutely free of charge.”

Activant plans to include 58 categories and nearly 2,000 specific types of products commonly sold by automotive parts distributors, jobbers and retailers in the Activant ItemExpert eCatalog. These non-application and universal products – ranging from tools and chemicals to welding equipment and tire and wheel accessories – are not currently listed in any other comprehensive database widely used in parts stores, the company says.
