Former VW Boss Tapped to Take Continental Board Helm

German magazine Der Spiegel indicates former Volkswagen Chief Executive Bernd Pischetsrieder will be the man most likely to fill Rolf Koerfer's shoes when he steps down.

HANOVER, Germany — A favorite has emerged from the list of contenders under consideration to head up Continental’s Supervisory Board.

German magazine Der Spiegel indicates former Volkswagen Chief Executive Bernd Pischetsrieder will be the man most likely to fill Rolf Koerfer’s shoes when he steps down.

Pischetsrieder was recommended for the role by Martin Blessing, CEO of Commerzbank, one of the largest creditors of current Continental majority shareholder Schaeffler Group. The candidate was previously a member of the supervisory board of Dresdner Bank, which was taken over by Commerzbank in May. (Tire Review/Tyres & Accessories/Staffordshire, U.K.)
