LOS ANGELES — In an exclusive interview from October 2003, Motorcar Parts & Accessories (MPA) Chairman, President and CEO Selwyn Joffe, indicated that MPA’s shareholders would soon vote on a proposal to change the company’s name. That name change is now official.

Motorcar Parts & Accessories has changed its name to Motorcar Parts of America to better reflect its position in the markets it serves.

“Changing MPA’s corporate name also aligns the company with our business of providing motorcar parts that customers have come to recognize as synonymous with superior quality, while shedding the term accessories, the business of which MPA exited more than a decade ago,” Joffe said.

In an Executive Interview with aftermarketNews.com, Joffe said the name change was indicative of the company’s mentality going forward. “We are determined to be a major provider into the aftermarket in the engine parts categories,” he said. “I think the accessories part is no longer applicable to our business.”
