NORTHVILLE, MI — The International Automotive Task Force (IATF), a worldwide consortium of automotive manufacturers and trade associations, has granted all of Hayes Lemmerz International’s brake and powertrain components group facilities the ISO/TS 16949:2002 (with design) certification.

ISO/TS 16949 is an international quality management system that aligns existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) automotive quality systems into a single standard. ISO/TS 16949 certification acknowledges that the supplier has the requisite systems in place for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related products. The group’s systems were audited and certified by Smithers Quality Assessments Inc. (SQA), an independent accredited registrar.

Hayes Lemmerz automotive brake and powertrain components group manufactures rotors and drums and brake and hub assemblies at two plants located in Homer, Mich., and Monterrey, Mexico. The group also manufactures intake and exhaust manifolds, water crossovers, water pumps and other engine components, made of aluminum and iron, in two plants located in Wabash, Ind., and Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. The Nuevo Laredo plant also manufactures and assembles polymer intake manifolds.
