CHICAGO — BorgWarner Morse TEC has taken a major step forward in its strategic globalization plan with the opening of new plant in Korea. Morse TEC Korea was formed in 2002 in support of the company’s business relationship with Hyundai Motor Co. Since then, the wholly owned subsidiary has planned for the manufacture and supply of engine timing systems for Hyundai’s high-volume gasoline engine.

“The demand for engine timing systems is expected to grow rapidly in Asia, as vehicle makers discover the benefits of chain over belts — increased engine durability and horsepower, reduced noise and vibration, and improved packaging,” said Roger Wood, BorgWarner Morse TEC president and general manager. “BorgWarner Morse TEC is pleased to bring the performance benefits and optimized value of our engine timing systems to our Asian customers through local operations that support the growing demand in this high- potential market. We are very proud of our new facility, which gives us an even stronger local presence in support of one of our fastest growing customers.”

The new 34,250-square-foot plant is located in Pyongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, Korea.
