Castrol SYNTEC Blend DIFM Sales Increase 80 Percent in 2003

Castrol Consumer North America offers operators a choice between conventional and synthetic motor oils, with Castrol SYNTEC Blend, a part synthetic motor oil, which provides added engine protection for severe driving conditions.

WAYNE, NJ — Castrol Consumer North America offers operators a choice between conventional and synthetic motor oils, with Castrol SYNTEC Blend, a part synthetic motor oil, which provides added engine protection for severe driving conditions.

“This past year, Castrol launched an initiative to increase the market share for synthetic lubricants. It succeeded. Castrol SYNTEC Blend has seen an 80 percent increase in DIFM sales in 2003 and we expect to see tremendous growth in 2004, “ stated Castrol Consumer North America’s Trade marketing manager, Fast Lubes, John Gebhard.

Engineered to withstand extreme stress caused by severe driving conditions, Castrol SYNTEC Blend is ideal for engines that have to make frequent short trips and don’t allow the oil to reach optimum temperature. Stop and go traffic or towing and hauling can cause an engine’s operating temperature to increase, straining the engine and producing more combustion by-products. Castrol SYNTEC Blend provides a higher level of thermal stability for added protection and prevention of engine wear and harmful deposits and sludge control.

Plus, with Castrol’s exclusive mobile equipment, The SYNTEC Booster, lube operators are able to realize pricing efficiencies from bulk/drum pricing. The Booster is a 68-gallon rolling reservoir that can be filled from a bulk truck, a bulk tank or a 55-gallon stationary drum. The mobile dispensing unit is easily maneuvered by the lube technician. Since the Booster is branded with the Castrol logo and the SYNTEC Blend name, customers are assured that their vehicle is receiving the premium synthetic blended lubricant for which they are paying.

Castrol SYNTEC Blend is available in multiple grades including 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 20W-50 and is fully compatible with all conventional and synthetic motor oils. Castrol SYNTEC Blend grades exceed all passenger car and light truck manufacturers’ warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline and turbo-charged engines where API SL, SJ or SH is recommended. They also exceed the engine protection requirements of ILSAC GF-3 for API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils in every grade and the demanding U.S. shear stability and stay-in-grade requirements.
