Gentex to Break Ground on New Facility

Gentex Corp. will break ground on its new technology center and manufacturing facility on Monday, August 2. The new facility will nearly double Gentex's mirror manufacturing capacity and provide office, meeting and testing space for its engineering and research & development teams. The company estimates that it will add more than 600 jobs over the next five years, as a result of the expansion.

ZEELAND, MI — Gentex Corp. will break ground on its new technology center and manufacturing facility on Monday, August 2.

The new 300,000-square-foot facility will be located in Zeeland, Mich., across from the company’s corporate headquarters. The City of Zeeland has vacated a portion of the street to allow the new facility to be constructed as an extension of the existing Gentex facility.

The new facility will nearly double Gentex’s mirror manufacturing capacity and provide office, meeting and testing space for its engineering and research & development teams.

The building is expected to be complete in early 2006. The company estimates that it will add more than 600 jobs over the next five years, as a result of the expansion.

Gentex develops, manufactures and markets proprietary electro-optic products, including interior and exterior electrochromic, automatic-dimming rearview mirrors and an extensive line of fire production products for commercial applications.
