SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Three new, highly effective, high-temperature heavy-duty brake linings for trucks and trailers have been introduced by Abex, the commercial-vehicle industry’s premier brand of linings, lined shoes, stop box kits and severe duty disc pads. Abex brake products are manufactured and marketed by Federal-Mogul Corporation.

Engineered for superior stopping power, optimum lining life and minimal drum wear, Abex brake linings help fleets and other heavy-duty vehicle operators achieve superior cost-per-mile braking performance. Each Abex lining is the product of the same premium materials, manufacturing processes and quality-assurance standards preferred by many of today’s leading vehicle manufacturers.

The three new Abex linings, manufactured in Federal-Mogul’s QS9000-certified facilities, include an advanced semi-metallic combination block ideally suited to demanding applications; an OEM-approved severe-duty lining engineered for fire trucks and other high-axle-load applications; and a high-performance semi-metallic lining that ensures superior fade resistance and recovery performance in high-temperature operating environments.

The brand’s new SM FF/6098 GG semi-metallic combination block is a high-performance lining rated to 23,000 pounds under the FMVSS 121 brake standard. Engineered to deliver superior stopping power across all temperature ranges, the latest Abex combination block is recommended for use on a wide range of demanding applications. The new block experiences low swell and growth and ensures excellent lining life and drum compatibility.

The new Abex FT GG severe duty lining, rated to 26,000 pounds, is an OEM-specified high-performance braking solution for fire trucks and other severe-duty applications with high axle loads. This new material helps ensure superior lining life and drum compatibility. In addition, the lining’s unsurpassed flexural strength and elasticity help customers avoid cracking issues associated with some conventional materials.

The third new Abex lining, SM FF, is recommended for a broad range of vocational applications with severe-duty cycles. Rated to 20,000 pounds, the new material provides exceptional fade resistance and recovery performance as well as superior flexural strength under the most demanding conditions.
