BETHESDA, MD — The five largest U.S. states comprise one-third of all U.S. independent repair shops and automotive retail establishments, according to new data reported in the “2004/2005 Aftermarket Factbook,” which is published by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois also dominate the U.S. motorist population, with more than one-third of all licensed drivers.
“This concentration of motorists, service establishments and retail stores illustrates the significance of a handful of states in determining national trends,” said Dan Kaplan, AAIA senior director, market research. “AAIA provides state-specific data in the “Factbook” as a means of providing the detailed data needed to make more targeted business decisions.”
The “2004/2005 Aftermarket Factbook” includes statistical tables, charts, analysis and trends in the U.S. and key international markets covering topics such as key economic indicators, size of aftermarket segments, sales of automotive accessories, chemicals, motor oil and more.
The four-color “Factbook” is available for $99 for AAIA members and $199 for non-members. Discounts are available for multiple copies. To order by phone, call 301-654-6664, or order online at www.aftermarket.org.
