SEMA Launches New Offroad Show

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has created an all new exclusive offroad event, which will take place Feb. 4-5, 2005 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Designed as a companion event to the well-established SEMA Spring Expo, and as an extension of the SEMA Show 2004 in Las Vegas, SEMA Offroad will target companies serving the recreational and performance offroad segments and aims to create new opportunities for this growing market.

DIAMOND BAR, CA — The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has created an all new exclusive offroad event, which will take place Feb. 4-5, 2005 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Designed as a companion event to the well-established SEMA Spring Expo, and as an extension of the SEMA Show 2004 in Las Vegas, SEMA Offroad will target companies serving the recreational and performance offroad segments and aims to create new opportunities for this growing market.

“This booming niche within the accessories industry represents new opportunities for established companies,” said Peter MacGillivray, SEMA vice president, marketing and communications. “It also represents fertile ground for new companies to build and grow business. This is the goal of SEMA — to create and expand opportunities for our members through research, education, member services, international outreach, government legislation and regulation initiatives and industry-wide events — we expect to continue achieving these goals with SEMA Offroad.”

SEMA Offroad will feature the latest products in sand sports, rock crawling, mud bogging, desert racing and more. At the show, attendees will be able to observe and participate in “live” driving presentations on an indoor exhibition course. Hundreds of tons of dirt and boulders will be used in the construction of an indoor proving ground, where professional drivers will demonstrate and attendees will test the latest off-road vehicles fitted with SEMA member equipment.

For the first time, Indianapolis will now have consecutively running SEMA events. The brand new SEMA Offroad and the familiar SEMA Spring Expo will host trade and consumer visitors at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Together, the SEMA events will deliver thousands of buyers to exhibitors.

“Having the shows co-located will expand both the product and vehicle array,” said MacGillivray. “These shows will provide the cross-selling opportunities so important to the off-road business segment.”
