TROY, MI — Delphi Corp. on Monday said it had completed the closing of its Flint West, Mich. operations, and that it remains on track to lay off as many as 6,000 workers. By the end of last week, the automotive components maker said the last 450 employees at the plant had either retired, transferred to other jobs in the company, or will be “flowed back” into other Delphi plants. With the Flint West shutdown, the company is “well on track” to meet its goal to reduce headcount by 5,500 to 6,000 in 2004. Delphi rose 17 cents to close at $9.19 on Monday.
