IndustryWeek magazine has announced the winners of its 15th annual IW Best Plants Award Program, which salutes outstanding manufacturing facilities on the leading edge of efforts to increase competitiveness, enhance customer satisfaction and create stimulating and rewarding work environments. Among this year's winners were several plants owned by aftermarket companies including: Collins & Aikman Plastics, Williamston Operations (Williamston, MI); Dana Corp., Perfect Circle Products, Franklin Steel Products Plant (Franklin, KY); and TRW Automotive Fowlerville Plant (Fowlerville, MI).

CLEVELAND — IndustryWeek magazine has announced the winners of its 15th annual IW Best Plants Award Program, which salutes outstanding manufacturing facilities on the leading edge of efforts to increase competitiveness, enhance customer satisfaction and create stimulating and rewarding work environments.

The magazine selects 10 winners each year. Among this year’s winners were several plants owned by aftermarket companies including: Collins & Aikman Plastics, Williamston Operations (Williamston, MI); Dana Corp., Perfect Circle Products, Franklin Steel Products Plant (Franklin, KY); and TRW Automotive Fowlerville Plant (Fowlerville, MI).

IndustryWeek reported that the combined 10 winning facilities recorded a median 21 percent three-year productivity increase (value added per employee); 20 percent three-year cycle time reduction (time from start of production to product completion); and 74.9 percent return on invested capital (ROIC).

More than 400 plants were nominated for the award between October 2003 and March 2004. The winners were validated during plant visits in July and August. An in-depth profile of all the winning facilities can be found at: www.industryweek.com/iwinprint/bestplants.
