TORRANCE, CA — Vic Edelbrock, president and CEO of Edelbrock Corp. has established his third scholarship program for students pursuing a career in the automotive industry. This week, Edelbrock announced the establishment of the Vic Edelbrock Sr. WyoTech Scholarship.

WyoTech is a national technical college that offers a specialized automotive curriculum, including training in street rods, custom trim and upholstery, diesel, service management and collision/refinishing. The school has six campuses in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Wyoming and California.

Edelbrock has awarded a $5,500 scholarship check to WyoTech student Troy Sato in a ceremony at the school’s Laramie, Wyo., campus.

“WyoTech has a great program which produces top-notch automotive students, and with the growth in this industry, we need them,” Edelbrock said. “WyoTech is a prestigious automotive technical institute and Troy is the ideal recipient of this scholarship. He’s into racing, hot rods and works on cars of all types. I’m glad we at Edelbrock can help him pursue his automotive career.”

For 19-year-old Sato, the scholarship is a dream come true. “This is the biggest honor I’ve ever received, by far,” he said. “The Edelbrock name and recognition will help me when I look for a job. I want to be the best, and this will give me an edge.”

Sato, who hails from Mt. Vernon, Wash., has completed WyoTech’s diesel program and is now taking chassis fabrication and high-performance engine classes. He wants to work on a World of Outlaws pit crew and already has some hot rod experience, especially with Edelbrock. “Right out of high school, I worked with Dave Tatom at Tatom Custom Engines, the same shop that did engine work on the famous Vic Edelbrock Sr. 1932 Ford Roadster. That really helped spark my interest in hot rods.”
