WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Officials from Winston-Salem, NC-based Douglas Battery Manufacturing Co. announced Tuesday the company will sell its automotive battery division to East Penn Manufacturing Co.
Neither of the privately held companies would discuss details, such as how many jobs could be eliminated. Some Douglas employees will be invited to apply for jobs with East Penn, in Lyon Station, Pa., according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
In November, Douglas announced it would cut as many as 350 jobs in Winston-Salem this year as it restructured its struggling automotive battery division, according to the article. The company plans to focus more on its growing industrial battery division.
