BETHESDA, MD — Applications for the 2005Car Care Council Women’s Board scholarships are now available and can be downloaded at http://women.carcare.org.
The Women’s Board awards scholarships to female students who are pursuing education to prepare them for a career in the automotive aftermarket. There is a $1,000 scholarship and two $500 scholarships open to female students who have completed one year in an ASE certified, post-secondary automobile technology program. In addition, there are two $500 scholarships open to female high school seniors who plan on attending an ASE certified, post-secondary automobile technology program.
“Part of the Women’s Board’s mission is to encourage young people to investigate the automotive industry as a career choice,” said Becky Babcox, Women’s Board scholarship committee chair. “Because of the generosity of our 2005 sponsors, the Women’s Board is able to offer direct assistance in the form of these scholarships. It’s really a win-win situation for everyone because it not only benefits the recipients, but also helps grow the pool of qualified females within the automotive aftermarket.”
Scholarship sponsors include Jiffy Lube, Tomorrow’s Technician magazine, ACDelco, Automotive Service Professionals and the Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS) Worldwide.
The high school applications are due by Friday, April 1, 2005. The deadline for the post-secondary scholarship applications is Friday, May 13, 2005. Winners will be announced in July.
