PHILADELPHIA — CARDONE Industries, a worldwide leader in remanufactured and new automotive parts, hosted a visit on April 15 by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez to discuss the Bush administration’s tax, economic and trade policies.

Secretary Gutierrez’s tour of CARDONE Industries on Tax Day was part of his first visit to Philadelphia since he was sworn in on Feb. 7.

Gutierrez toured CARDONE Industries’ remanufacturing and distribution facilities with Michael Cardone Jr., CARDONE chairman and CEO and MEMA chairman. The secretary then met with approximately 300 employees to discuss President Bush’s economic and trade policies.

“When you hear issues debated like the economy, taxes and international trade, most people find it hard to understand the relevance to their daily times,” said Cardone. “But CARDONE is a perfect example of the positive impact these policies can have on local family-owned businesses and job growth right here in Pennsylvania. Free trade agreements like the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) will improve our access to other markets outside the United States, resulting in increased demand for our products and new jobs.”

“The president’s economic, tax, and trade policies have helped to create a more favorable business environment for CARDONE Industries, allowing our company to grow and hire new employees,” said Cardone. “We appreciate President Bush’s work on the economic front and support his efforts to push for more open trade policies with other nations. With CAFTA now up for debate before Congress, we think it is important that the public understand what’s at stake for local companies and job growth.”
