Brand Protection Council Members Interviewed on NPR

Todd Manson of Webb Wheel Products Inc. and Randy Petresh of Haldex Brake Systems Inc. were recently featured in a segment about counterfeit heavy-duty parts for American Public Media’s "MarketPlace" program on National Public Radio (NPR). The program, taped at the recent Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY, presents the significant safety hazards of fake parts, and the costs in money and resources for companies to protect their products from counterfeiters. Both companies are members of the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association Brand Protection Council.

Maryland Teamsters Call for Passage of HB 1447

Members of Teamsters Locals 570, 639, and 922 testified before the Maryland House of Delegates to call for the passage of House Bill 1447 (HB 1447), legislation that would require a human operator in large commercial vehicles. Similar legislation has been introduced in California, Iowa, Indiana, and New York this year.

Beyond the safety aspect, the legislation would protect middle-class jobs, according to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
