GRANDVIEW, MO — Peterson Manufacturing has expanded its line of single-diode Piranha LED clearance/sidemarker lights with a PC-rated model: the 177 Series DOT Light. All lights in the DOT line are approximately the size of DOTS gum drops — about three fourths of an inch in diameter — from which "DOT" nickname comes from.
Peterson said what is unique about the 177 Series is its PC rating, the SAE designation for a lamp whose specialized optics can produce a light-spread spanning 180 degrees. When properly mounted at a 45-degree angle, the 177 model can be used as two lights in one — providing both clearance and sidemarker functions.
Jim Rowden, Peterson vice president of engineering, stated that one of the new light’s best features is its rotationally symmetric design.
"Unlike most competitive lights, the 177 requires no top-mount to assure correct orientation during installation. The optics work in any position, which makes for a faster, easier install," Rowden said.
The 177 Series offers a low-profile design, an operating range of 8-16 volts, hard-wired toughness against corrosion and lamp failure.
"It’s a great addition to Peterson’s DOT line of lights," said Rowden. "Tiny size, PC-rated versatility and brilliant performance."
