Clean Diesel Technologies, a provider of technologies and solutions that reduce emissions, conserve fuel and improve engine performance, has signed a worldwide, non-exclusive licensing agreement with Tenneco. The new agreement licenses Tenneco to work with original equipment manufacturers and to serve as the Tier One supplier and systems integrator for emissions solutions, combining Tenneco's proprietary products and technologies with Clean Diesel's ARIS airless reagent injection system.

STAMFORD, CT — Clean Diesel Technologies, a provider of technologies and solutions that reduce emissions, conserve fuel and improve engine performance, has signed a worldwide, non-exclusive licensing agreement with Tenneco.

These license agreements – which Tenneco entered into in connection with its recent acquisition of the mobile emissions business of Combustion Components Associates, Inc. (CCA) – cover mobile applications for Clean Diesel’s ARIS airless reagent injection system and technology, which controls nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions through selective catalytic reduction (SCR), and the related suite of Clean Diesel patents. The licenses also include applications for hydrocarbon injection for lean NOx traps and for other NOx absorbers and catalysts, as well as for diesel particulate filter regeneration.

The new agreement licenses Tenneco to work with original equipment manufacturers and to serve as the Tier One supplier and systems integrator for emissions solutions, combining Tenneco’s proprietary products and technologies with ARIS. The suite of licensed patents includes Clean Diesel’s exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technique used in combination with SCR to minimize engine emissions while simultaneously improving fuel efficiency.

Under the terms of the latest agreement, Clean Diesel will receive up-front fees and per-unit royalties. Tenneco also acquired from Clean Diesel the assignment of a license for mobile retrofit emission control applications in on-road and off-road vehicles, and for other markets including railroad and marine.

"This agreement is another indication that Clean Diesel’s patented technology is gaining steady traction in the global marketplace. We will continue to offer highly synergistic licensing opportunities with innovative industry leaders such as Tenneco," said Bernhard Steiner, president and CEO of Clean Diesel. "This agreement with Tenneco is part of a series of global licensing agreements executed this year for the company’s technologies. As the world looks to apply new solutions that will control oxides of nitrogen, particulate matter and carbon dioxide emissions, while also reducing fossil fuel consumption, it will be the wide scale deployment and adoption of patented platform technologies like ours that will make a real impact."
